Dam Removal: Unprecedented Projects With Unprecedented Results

Davey Mitigation has extensive experience with dam removal projects, including three dam removal projects completed in North Carolina (Carbonton, Lowell and Milburnie Dam Removals) that have been recognized nationally as extraordinary achievements in large-scale river improvement. For more than 50 miles, these sections of the Neuse, Deep and Little Rivers now flow freely for the first time in centuries, and migratory fish such as Shad and Stripped Bass are able to spawn upstream of the deconstructed dams. We work closely with regulatory agencies to verify the uplift from these projects and are able to tap our in-house technical and operational expertise to adequately assess feasibility and risk.
